His Self

Haircolor: Dark brown
Eye color: Pale blue
Weight: Lean
Memorable marks:

Description: James has dark brown, curly hair and a slightly olive complexion like his father's side, and the pale blue eyes and elegant nose of his mother.

As he models on occasion, his build is slim and lean. He works out weekly, so is building muscle that he never had before, having never played sport.

Personality

James is quiet and observant at first glance. He tends to be a bit of a wallflower and doesn't respond well to awkward situations. But underneath the surface there is a layer not many people get to see. A flirt, a tease, a coy little sexual addict who once delighted in taming older men and enticing boys his age. For two years after his parents' divorce, he took out his anger and frustration on sexual partners, and did what his brother did--slept with men.

But as he near his final year at Eton, he met and began to date Audrey Bennett, a quiet and generous girl and the daughter of one of James's mother's old friends. While at first she was retaliation, she eventually became the center of his world, and softened him. He is no longer as bitter and angry as he was, and manages to calm down much quicker than when he was younger.

He also has found the ability to loosen up and laugh at the world while still retaining his dry, cynical sense of humor.

Interests and Uncategorized Facts

He is a classically trained pianist who works magic on the piano.

His Life

Like Avery, James was put in many, many activities before he found his niche. He was close to his older brother from the time he was an infant and being carried haphazardly about the house by him. Their closeness meant that James really didn't expand his friendships during school, even when Avery left for Eton in 2001.

However, James didn't respond well to his brother's sudden disappearance from his life. He missed him very much and hoped that one day they'd both be at school together. Claire told him that they most likely would, and ten year old James slowly got over his initial shock.

But as Avery's problems, which were mostly kept from the children, started openly affecting his parents' relationship, James began to get angrier. Quietly angry. He was still shy, but by the time Avery had left Eton, it was James's turn. He stayed in London with Avery, Jake Griffith and Jack Dickon, which exposed him to Avery's sexuality and the amount of affection he got. This made an impression on the thirteen-year-old. By the time James was half way through his term, he realized something rather startling: he was very much attracted to the boys around him. Or thought he was.

He even acquired a boyfriend.

After talking to Avery and their mum about it, James slowly warmed up to his "new" sexuality and became more relaxed with intimacy. Too relaxed. He had strings of short little flings and became good friends with an older Etonian boy, Georgie Hill.

But when his parents divorced, James blamed Avery, outwardly telling him he hated him and their mother and refusing to see either of them before going back to school. He slept with people out of spite and when their family traveled to Jamaica in the summer of 2006, he met two young men: Rhygin Dawes and Dominik Szabo. He stayed in touch with Rhygin, but with Dominik, a man (and vampire) twelve ears his senior, their romantic involvement was no simple thing. They had a continuous and passionate affair. Neither was in love with the other, but James had become attached to him and when Dominik went back to London, James resented him for it, not speaking to him for weeks and weeks.

James's period of rebellion also including getting kidnapped for a short period of time before escaping and being restored to his family, and repeatedly ignoring Dominik just because he could.

Eventually, however, Avery found out what was going on, and he didn't like it. He went straight to James, and even talked to Dominik, but was more concerned with getting James away from someone so much older at a time when James needed therapy, not sex. Naturally, James hated the interference and found himself with Dominik repeatedly, even helping to get the man a photography job with the company. But Avery hadn't given up.

James and Dominik parted ways again in 2007, not unusual for their stubborn personalities, but in the meantime, James met the daughter of one of Claire's old friends (Ellen). Her name was Audrey. She danced at the Lower School with Bess, but was in the highest class. Unlike the other two regular relationships in James's life, Audrey was a very stable, simple individual. She was far shorter, far more innocent, and much like her gentle mother.

At first, it was recognizable, even to Georgie (who quite liked her) that James was probably using her for proper warmth and comfort. Even James considered breaking up with her several times. But in the weeks he hadn't seen Dominik, in which Audrey was smiling and laughing with him, he felt a slight change in his demeanor--he didn't want to go back to Dominik at all.

In fact, the closer he got to Audrey, who became part of a gang of three with Georgie on weekends, the less interested he became in boys at all, which prompted a moment of deep thought. Was he gay? He thought he was gay--but then suddenly he wondered if it was just an attempt to be like his brother. Georgie no longer seemed appealing. The girls Audrey knew got more attention than the boys in his class.

Whether James was experimenting, or whether he is bisexual, no longer matters to him. For a year and a half he found his life calming down, and took his sister and Audrey to the ballet, modeled occasionally, and studied hard for Oxbridge.

Audrey received an apprenticeship upon entrance into the upper school, and moved into the corps in 2008. James was accepted into Oxford, and will be majoring in music. As the final weeks of Eton come to a close, he began hunting down a flat in London and tentative plans to live with Audrey and his sister, should she need a more independent place to stay.
